So we need to talk.

[Wylan doesn’t respond but comes out of his room with Argon at the requested time. Despite being told he’s not in trouble, Wylan is quietly vibrating, so much so that Argon is pressed against Wylan’s leg. Wylan takes a seat on the couch and Argon is up next to him, licking Wylan’s face.]

[Wash is waiting there, with a thermos and spicy jerky bites. He's going to pour the cocoa when Wylan sits and holds it out.]

There's cayenne pepper in it. More dark chocolate than sugar.

[Wylan doesn’t accept either the cocoa or the jerky bites. His hands are buried in Argon’s short fur.]

What did I do?

[Wash sets down the cup.]

...asked out MK.

Which this is not specifically what this conversation is about. Its just brought up some parenting I should be doing.

Kind of need to wait on that 'need to specifically talk about you and MK having a relationship' talk. Might involve him. Need to figure out a few moving parts, if I'm honest.

[At the mention of MK, Wylan’s gaze drifts down and away and Argon licks his face more fervently.]

I like him. And I know he has other mates and a boyfriend. This won’t be like Jesper. I know ahead of time.

Strangely, I kind of want to talk to Donnie about that since he saw your jealousy issues up close and personal. Maybe see if you could convince him that's true.

Because you had to have known Jesper was a flirt ahead of time too, right?

[Wylan pulls his legs up underneath Argon.]

He was a flirt, yes. But we were home, he was only flirting with me. He asked me to move in with him. Then I got to the Temple and he suddenly had several partners. It was jarring.

This is different.

[He hummed.] Maybe. More time, might have wrapped your head around. When you're in murder games, people did have a tendency to take any comfort they should.

But this is my question, and I want you to be absolutely honest with me Wylan.

How are you controlling your jealousy?

[Wylan is quiet for a moment before answering.]

Because I know he is still spending time with me, too.

And are you satisfied with that?

I really like MK. I know he has other mates. I promise I’m fine.

That isn't what I asked, Wylan.

I’m satisfied with that.

Why?

Because I like MK.

[Wylan curls tighter around Argon.]

Wylan, breathe.

I'm not mad.

This conversation is about romantic relationships in general.

Because it occurred to me that you might not....have the best outlook on how they work.

I don’t want to talk about this.

[He starts to get up to his feet, despite knowing that yes he did’t have any proper demonstrations of a good relationship growing up. ]

Wylan, if you can't talk about relationships, you're not ready to be in one.

I am ready. Just because I don’t want to talk about it with you doesn’t mean I’m not ready. I’m not a kid.

You're my kid.

And the most important thing about maintaining a healthy relationship, any kind of relationship, is being able to have a difficult conversation.

If this little amount has you wanting to run, then you're not ready to have one, let alone be a good partner.

MK and I have already had a difficult conversation. I just don’t want to talk with you.

Stop telling me that I’m not capable of something! You sound like my father.

And are you going to pull out those cheap shots whenever you have a fight with MK?

Because he's got a lot of weak spots to go for.

What cheap shots? I’m telling you ehat I think and feel and I feel that you’re talking down to me like my father would.

We’ve already agreed that we can talk each other out of a spiral.

And you know I hate being compared to him and you know its hurts. And its becoming your favorite go to move, which isn't a good sign, Wylan.

Especially what your father did was put you down and only put you down. He didn't care about helping you improve. Only punishing you so he could feel like a big man.

I want to help you so you don't have to make the worst possible mistake to learn a lesson.

And have you done so? And was it a talk?

Or was it a distraction? [He knows MK. He knows his tactics.]
