Some of the chemical names that get rattled off don't mean nearly as much to Kaz as they do to Wylan, but he commits them to memory all the same. He might look them up sometime out of curiosity, simply because his mind is always in a state of wanting to learn. Which isn't to say he plans on taking over demo expert duties, nor would it be an efficient use of his time to learn to be one. Kaz knows his strengths and he also values encouraging the strengths of those around him. He's learned a long time ago that he can't accomplish all that he plans on doing by himself.

The supplies are to be used for the benefit of Kaz's plans, and therefore, he'll fund them himself. While Kaz isn't above making deals that work in his favor, he also doesn't scam his people out of their shares. He has some scruples even if one has to scrape the bottom of the Barrel to find them.
